Four illustrators/graphic designers who teamed up in early 2009 and settled our business location in the picaresque part of the small neighborhood “Matte” in Berne. BlackYard’s primary area of occupation is illustration and graphic design with clients from big companies to cultural venues.

One of our editors, Steffy Steff, currently residing in Thailand, just dropped us a line about the Bukruk street art festival in Bangkok. “BUKRUK/ THAI-EUROPE CONNECTION” is the first large-scale collaboration between Thailand and Europe in the field of street art. This project has been the biggest yet proposed in Thailand, with more than 400m2 of exhibition space and 1,000 m2 of exterior wall paintings.

Kimou Meyer aka Grotesk is the prototype of the Swiss graphic designer who made it big in New York. The 38-year-old Genevan came to New York twelve years ago and has become the go to guy when it comes to streetwear and graphic design. His keen style and flavor are conspicuously stamped on everything he does for friends at Alife, Sixpack, 5Boro, or his private sketchbook. We met with Kimou in the backyard of his agency in Brooklyn to talk about New York, Kung Fu and American work ethic. He is so sought after that he hardly had time to send us his stuff until one day before printing. Never on schedule but always on time!

Act smart – buy art. Ten first-class artists were invited by Amateur Magazine to paint in an old carhouse in Aarau, Switzerland. The fresh artworks that were painted during the event got sold in an auction just afterwards whereas the knockdown prices depended on the painting time: 2 bucks per minute.
